COURSE OVERVIEW
If you have an interest or passion in working in the forest/woodlands and trees industry, then this course is suited to you. Our Level 2 Technical Certificate is delivered by our ‘Outstanding’; Arboricultural team that are industry and sector experts. The skills that you develop during this course offers opportunity for progression onto Level 3 pathway or will equip you with the skills, behaviours, and knowledge to be well prepared for employment.
With 500+ acres on our beautiful estate, we have many woodlands and copses that you will be learning in and maintaining/managing. With opportunities to expand your knowledge with your own work experience placements, the aim is to prepare you for your next step, whether on Level 3 or into the industry.

FURTHER INFORMATION
Everyone is welcome to apply to the course provided you are 16 years old +. Funding available up to 18 years old. Alternatively, grants may be available. You will need to have either three GCSEs at grades 3 and one GCSE at grade 4 or an equivalent.
After this course you will have the basic skills required to work with a tree surgery company as a groundsperson, Alternatively, on successful completion of this course at a merit grade, you will have the option of continuing onto the Level 3 diploma in forestry and arboriculture. This course offers a variety of progression routes within the forestry and arboriculture industries.
You will be assessed by a range of methods including multiple choice exams, practical assessments, written assignments, presentations and projects
Synoptic
assignment
The synoptic assignment is externally set, internally marked and
externally moderated. The assignment requires candidates to
identify and use effectively in an integrated way an appropriate
selection of skills, techniques, concepts, theories, and knowledge from
across the content area. Candidates will be judged against the
assessment objectives.
Externally
marked exam
The exam is externally set and externally marked and can be taken
either online through City & Guilds’; computer-based testing platform, or as a paper based test
Internally
marked
theory exam
This theory exam is externally set, internally marked and
externally moderated. It is designed to assess the candidate’;s depth
and breadth of understanding from across
Synoptic assessments
Where a candidate is given a problem to solve or an outcome to achieve.
All
equipment other than Personal Protective Equipment will be supplied by the
college. PPE will need to be purchased by you at the start of the course. This
will be explained to you in more detail in induction week. Cost will vary from
£350 -£500 depending on brands and type
You will be expected to complete 150 hours of work experience in additional to this course as well.

Application Review Meeting
Before offering you a place at college, we’ll meet with you (either in person, by telephone or online). We’ll send you a link to our booking page where you can select a time that’s convenient for you.
Accept Your Place
Offers will be sent to you via the email address you have provided. The offer will be conditional, based on predicted GCSE grades. You’ll need to accept your offer within 14 days to secure your place.
