Student Services

Lots can happen during your time at college and that’s why our Student Services team is on hand to advise and support you.

ADDITIONAL LEARNING SUPPORT

Our Additional Support Team can help you and your lecturers tailor support to meet your specific needs, including providing in-class or out-of-class support for literacy, numeracy and study skills, as well as individual and group support to develop social communication skills.

ASC PROVISION

Social and communication skills are an essential part of everyday living and we have qualified and experienced lecturers on hand to teach social and communication skills in structured sessions and workshops.

CHILDCARE

At the campus we have our First Steps nursery, which is a commercial nursery, open to all. Charges are competitive and bursary support is often available to help with childcare costs.

EXAM SUPPORT

We know that some students will require special arrangements when taking exams and support can be provided, post assessment, in accordance with awarding bodies’ guidelines. Dependent upon assessment results, scribes and readers may be supplied and assistive equipment may be borrowed.

STUDENT WELFARE

The physical and mental wellbeing of all our students is extremely important to us, so we provide a number of support services. A nurse is available at Brinsbury campus. You can contact them at collegenurse@chichester.ac.uk or by calling 07825 937018.

We also have drop-in services including Mental Health Team, Substance Misuse, MIND and NHS Health Checks, as well as a large network of trained first-aiders.

VIP BREAKFAST CLUB

Designed for those who don’t have the opportunity to have a healthy breakfast at home, students can grab a quick, tasty and nutritious breakfast to set them up for the day ahead.

Personal Development Programme

Our Personal Development Programme has been designed to help build your skills, attitudes and behaviours to support you within and College and throughout your future life. These sessions are tailored to your specific level of learning as well as the skills and risks in the local community.

Each session will be delivered by your Pastoral Support Tutor through a series of interactive workshops, they will guide you through your College journey as well as inspire and inform your future. The programme will cover a range of topics including social media, how to stay safe, respect and tolerance and creating a positive community.

These sessions will be supported and followed up with one to one conversations with your Pastoral Support Tutor and topics within your curriculum area.

Counselling

Students experiencing emotional or personal problems, or who are distressed and have no-one to talk to, are able to access our counselling team for totally confidential support and advice. These professional services are available for free. You can contact the team on 01243 781424.

In addition, to meet the growing needs of our nation’s Children and Young People, Chichester College Group has been part of a group pioneering a UK-wide directory of qualified Children and Young people counsellors and therapists with TAC Access. Our students can use this exciting and powerful tool to select a professional they would like to work with either face-to-face or online.

Please note, funding for this service will need to come from external funds, e.g. parent/carer.

Positive Behaviour Management

Within Chichester College Group we aim to support our students with Positive Behaviour Management when there are barriers to learning or progression. Positive Behaviour Management involves identifying any issues surrounding a student’s behaviour which maybe impacting their time at the College, students requiring support maybe placed on the referral process.
