FURTHER INFORMATION
Each applicant should have obtained 1 GCSE in either maths or English Language at grade 4 or above. Where both maths and English have not been obtained at grade 4, we may discuss other suitable courses we provide here at Brinsbury. This course has a compulsory requirement to complete an external work based placement, which means students must be willing to apply themselves fully to the course and dedicated to animal care.
On successful completion of the Level 2 Technical Certificate in Animal Care, you will be eligible to progress onto Level 3 courses in Animal Management if you achieve a merit or above. Alternatively, you can take your newly developed skills into the workplace into industries such as, rescue centres, pet shops, kennels and catteries.
The qualification is comprised of both internally and externally set assessments. The course includes a multiple choice exam, written assignments, practical assessments and an externally set synoptic exam, which is a series of both practical and theoretical scenarios that should be completed over a set timeframe. Assessments are all subject to external verification from the awarding body.
Students will be required to purchase a protective overcoat at the price of £25 during induction, which will be used for practical sessions with the animals. Footwear such as walking boots or wellies are also required as students are expected to work in all weather conditions.
