COURSE OVERVIEW
This practical and theory-based qualification equips learners with the fundamental and practical skills and knowledge to start a professional horticulture career or develop a personal interest/passion within Horticulture
Our Level 2 Diploma in Practical Horticulture Skills, can lead to a variety of pathways or jobs, including work as a hands-on gardener, Horticulture therapist, conservation, or sustainability worker right through to a research scientist. These skills can offer potential for careers all over the world.

- Tool and Machinery skills and maintenance
- Propagation and planting
- Business
- Horticulture production
- how to prepare a site for a range of landscape installations
- paving with a range of materials
- construction of paths and steps

FURTHER INFORMATION
Level 2 Diploma in Practical Horticulture Skills, targets people who have a love of the outdoors and nature and who have a willingness to learn about plants and the wider environment. Including school leavers or anyone who would like to use the course as a stepping-stone into employment or further progression onto other pathways of Level 2 practical courses. We would expect learners to have achieved a grade 4 in at least Maths or English at GCSE level or equivalent.
This course can lead onto a variety of progression pathways, including:
- Level 2 Forestry and Arboriculture
- Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Horticulture -; Science, Horticulture Production, Business
- There is also the opportunity to undertake an apprenticeship in the Horticulture industry to further develop your progression or career.
Assessing of learner’;s skills and knowledge is through practical/project based assessments as well as the completing a portfolio of evidence to support your project evaluations and theory elements.
No costs, however, all learners will require their own Steel Toe capped boots and suitable clothing for outdoor practical work in all weather conditions
