COURSE OVERVIEW
This is an advanced course for school leavers or mature students who want to retrain in the animal care industry. This course allows you to improve your animal experience and confidence through practical work with our range of reptiles, mammals, birds and paddock animals in our new animal centre facilities. It also helps to develop your academic skills in order to progress onto university or into the workplace.
FURTHER INFORMATION
You will need 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above (three must be English language, Maths and a Science) or a relevant level 2 qualification at merit level with a minimum of either GCSE maths or English at grade 4 or above. Some experience with animals. Mature applicants with animal related work experience will be considered.
Employment as an animal welfare assistant in kennels, catteries or other animal shelters or progression to the second year, which will prepare you for higher level study or employment.
There will be two externally set tests in the spring and timed assessments based on coursework that will be completed throughout the year.
