Howzat! Brinsbury pride as student selected for England

Following a successful trial for the England Disability Team T20, he has been selected to join the squad with the possibility of going on tour with the team.
Paul Burry, Head of Learning for Horticulture, Arboriculture and Agriculture at Brinsbury College, said: “This is a huge honour for Alfie to be part of this squad and we as a college are so extremely proud of Alfie and the progress he has made throughout the years.
“He played so well at the trial and now he has been successful in following the pathway with a view to go on tour with the England Disability team to either Australia or South Africa. This hasn’t been booked yet due to Covid-19, but we wish him the very best of luck.”
Alfie started his journey at Brinsbury College in 2018 on a foundation course and since then he has worked hard and is on track to gain his level 1 certificate in horticulture.
From a young age, Alfie has had a passion for sports and over the years his love for both football and cricket has only got stronger. It was no surprise that Alfie has been overjoyed to play for Sussex County Cricket Disability D40 squad, after being scouted at a local trial.
Alfie said: “I am very happy I have been selected and excited to be playing games for England.
“I love playing cricket, I enjoy meeting new people through my time playing the sport.”
