Brinsbury and Crawley Colleges celebrate at 2024 Star Awards
Brinsbury College celebrated the exceptional accomplishments of students and staff at the annual Star Awards ceremony last week.
The evening, held in collaboration with Crawley College, saw around 28 students and staff receiving awards at the ‘Stars of 2024’ evening on Wednesday 6 November.
The colleges celebrated the dedication, perseverance, and achievements of people from various subjects, honouring their hard work and determination over the past academic year.
Performances from Crawley College’s Performing Arts and Theatre Inc. students added energy and excitement to the ceremony.
These performances included ‘High School Hop’ and ‘Greased Lightning’, from the play Grease, and ‘All That Jazz’ from the play Chicago.
It all culminated with the awarding of the college’s Brightest Star award, which went to Mia Jones.
Mia is a level two horticulture student, who first came to Brinsbury to study some of her GCSEs, she said: “Receiving the award made me feel really happy, I just got butterflies in my stomach, and I felt really proud of myself.
“Brinsbury College is the best place to be, to be honest. The people are nice, and I really like the course.
“I want to do something down the route of horticulture, maybe look at working in a plant nursery or something along those lines.”
The ceremony was hosted by Brinsbury College’s Acting Vice Principal, Alison Bell, alongside Crawley College’s Acting Principal, Dean Wynter, and Acting Vice Principal Jo Folwell.
They were also joined for the Brightest Star award by Vicki Illingworth, Deputy CEO and Executive Principal of the Chichester College Group.
Alison said: “Star Awards celebrate the incredible achievements and dedication of our students and staff. The evening honours their hard work and commitment, which truly embody the spirit of Brinsbury College.
“Nights like this remind us of the talent and dedication within our college community, and we’re so proud to be part of their journey.”
