Beautiful Brinsbury blooms through showcase competition
Students and staff across Brinsbury College have been showcasing their areas, following a campus-wide challenge.
Beautiful Brinsbury is a campus wide competition that was launched at the start of term by Principal Sally Challis-Manning MBE to challenge all areas to create displays which both celebrate and highlight the diversity and amazing work taking place in all areas of the college.
The judging took place last Friday with a panel that included Leo Murphy, Managing Director of Hepworth Brewery, and Dean Wynter, Vice Principal of Crawley College, as well as Student Executives Kayley Keegan and Bailey Crump.
Judged on four categories which included creativity, detail, impact and diversity, it was a tight competition which led to not one, but two winners.
Taking top spot were ‘The Animal Centre’ and ‘The Library’, with the highly commended award going to ‘The Horticulture Conifer Border’.
Sally said: “I am incredibly proud of each and every department who went above and beyond in this competition.
“Such a huge amount of effort went into each display so I can only imagine the difficulty the judges faced during their deliberations.”
A key focus of Beautiful Brinsbury was to ensure the displays portrayed the inclusivity and diversity that staff and students pride themselves on.
Leo added: “It was fantastic to visit the college and see so many creative displays on show. Everyone should be proud of their work.
“It’s clear the staff and students had made a big effort from interactive murals on the walls to colourful collages the work really brightened up the buildings and shared lots of useful information.”
