COURSE OVERVIEW
This course will help to build your confidence and develop your use of initiative taking, decision making and improve your communication skills. It will teach you the strategies to work as part of a team.
Your learning programme will be designed to meet your specific needs and help you fulfil your aspirations. You will co-create the curriculum with guidance from the lecturer, in order for you to take control of your learning, make decisions on what to learn, how you would like to learn and to develop the appropriate steps to fulfil your individual pathway.
You will have the opportunity to experience a vocational area of your choice during your year of study, areas this may include are:
- Animal care
- Horticulture
- Agriculture
- Equine
- Construction
FURTHER INFORMATION
Learners who are looking to progress onto vocational or academic courses, employment in the future or want to build on their existing skills.
Upon successful completion of the course, you will be able to make a more informed choice of your vocational pathway and progression.
This might include progress onto a Level 1 vocational course, Supported Internship, an Apprenticeship or employment.
This will be reviewed throughout your time at college and discussed at your progress and transition reviews in terms of individual pathway.
You will achieve a Level 1 Award in Occupational Studies for the Workplace which develops a variety of key skills to transfer to employment or further studies. You will be assessed practically, verbal and written and produce a portfolio of evidence.
Maths and English is included as part of the programme.
