Achieve L2 Dip in Furniture Making

The furniture team welcomes you to join a department that sits amongst the best in the country. A centre of excellence designed around one objective: to bring out the very best you can be.

Level 2 furniture making is about laying the foundations for a successful career in the furniture industry. We teach fundamental hand tool & power tool skills and tool maintenance that form the basis of everything we do as furniture makers – skills that will help you into employment, skills that can be built on over a lifetime and skills that can be transferred to other areas of manufacturing.

Our teaching of practical hand skills is underpinned by a knowledge and understanding of our preferred materials, solid wood and veneer. By getting hands on with timber, our students learn all about its inherent qualities and how it responds to our tools, an essential part of becoming a safe and productive woodworker and the reason our students are so desirable by employers.

The structure of our programmes follows clear educational aims that are expected from the awarding bodies. These are all outlined in the programme specifications which include further details such as the learning outcomes.
